How advertising works on TrueSay
Sponsored cards in the feed, every ad reviewed, viewers can always ask why they're seeing it, and protected characteristics are never targetable.
What it is
Ads on TrueSay are sponsored cards that appear in the feed, clearly labeled Sponsored. Advertisers pay only for what actually runs — there are no contracts, minimum commitments, or hidden fees.
Where ads appear
Ads run in the main feeds, spaced out so they never crowd the conversation. There are hard limits on how many ads one person can see per session, and the same advertiser won't appear twice in quick succession on one page.
Every ad is reviewed
Before an ad can serve, it passes review:
- Campaigns from new advertisers are reviewed by a person.
- Every video creative is reviewed by a person, every time.
- Established advertisers' image campaigns with clean copy can be approved automatically.
You get an email and an in-app notification either way.
Transparency for viewers
Everyone who sees an ad can tap Why am I seeing this? to get a plain-language label naming exactly which settings targeted them ("shown to people 25–34 interested in coffee"). We believe an ad platform you can't interrogate is a trust problem, so this label is generated from the actual targeting rules, not marketing copy.
What we never do
- No ads for minors beyond strictly untargeted, pre-cleared ones.
- No targeting on protected characteristics — health, religion, politics, sexuality, and similar topics are blocked at the serving engine level, not just in the form.
- No selling or sharing of viewer data with advertisers. Advertisers see aggregate numbers only.

Fixed prices — $5 per 1,000 views or 50¢ per click — spent from a prepaid wallet. Prices lock at serve time, every event bills at most once, and campaigns never overspend.
